"It will happen again" - that warning from former Senator Gary Hart - who along with former Senator Warren Rudman - co-chaired the commission which recommended the establishment of a homeland security deaprtment. The Hart-Rudman report was released before the 9/11 attacks.
Earlier this week in Durham, the Senator took part in a panel discussion produced by Justiceworks at the University of New Hampshire. The topic - Homeland security for the nation and New Hampshire. Senator Hart was joined by NH Attorney General Phil McLaughlin and political Science professor Tom Trout. Later, the three panelists joined us in the studio. I asked the former Senator why he feels motivated to talk about the Hart-Rudman report and issues of homeland secuirty.

This week Boston's Logan airport announced it will be keeping tabs on prospective employees using technology developed right here in New Hampshire. Bedford - based Imaging Automation came up with a system that checks the authenticity of passports and other forms of I-D. The system is already in use in other countries but this is the first time the technology will be used in the U-S. Earlier this summer Imaging Automation's Paul Bakhit showed me the system in action.

We are witnessing history in the making.
But twenty, thirty, one hundred years from now, how will this history be remembered?
What if our history could come alive?
That is what happens every year in the Granite State.
This summer, Portsmouth played host to two very distinguished visitors from the past: Susan B. Anthony and Sojourner Truth. Chip Neal was there.

This event is modeled after the original traveling tent shows put on by the Chautauqua Resort in up-state New York. The visitors from the past in this show are Soujourner Truth, a freed slave, became a powerful thinker and orator who preached abolition and social reform to mostly white audiences during the second half of her life.
And Susan B. Anthony, best known as a women's rights leader also campaigned against slavery and if favor of temperance. Anthony co-founded the American Equal Rights Association in 1866 and devoted a large part of her life to gaining the women's right to vote.
The program included a presentation by each character followed by questions and answers from the audience.
